WALKING PLACES TOGETHER
Low 2 High Route
About the Route
Start: Badwater Basin, Death Valley National Park
End: Mt. Whitney, Sierra Nevada Mountain Range
This route was developed by a hiker named Brett Tucker. It seems that the concept of this route is what draws many people to it - walking from the lowest point to the highest point in the lower 48 states. These points happen to be only about 135 miles apart. The route offers a truly unique perspective on changing landscapes and ecosystems in the state of California, as you walk from barren salt flats in the desert to snowcapped peaks in the Sierra Nevada mountain range. This route is physically and mentally demanding, and the elements (i.e. sun, lack of water) play a huge role in ones ability to complete the route.
